The young Buzzite, from the East, takes an opportunity to talk. He is angry, but in hs anger he does not sin. He appears to have insight into his words for he did think before he spoke, giving deference to the elder friends. He speaks of the spirit in a man, and mentions his spirit is compelling him to speak words that have been on the tip of his tongue for probably quite a while.
Elihu claims the same stance as Job and his 3 "friends" before God, and considers God's speaking "now one way and then another-though man may not perceive it." God's speaking is to keep man from pride and to preserve his soul from the pit. Elihu shows no partiality; he does not flatter and is correct that God despises flattery.
Elihu points to Jesus Christ; the angel on our side as a mediator, to spare him from going down into the pit, and the ransom.
There will be a sacrifice for sin, we can accept the attoning, substitutional sacrifice of God's perfect lamb Jesus Christ to avoid going down into the pit, or we can be our own sacrifice and go down into the pit. Read ahead in Revelation on December 31 if you need any further clarification on this point. Also read the gospel messages about Jesus being the Way, the Life, and the Truth for further clarification. Talk to a pastor or an elder, if there are any questions on Jesus' substitutionary death being whole, complete, eternal, and perfect.
Elihu also points to God's all present status knowing all. In God there is no dark place, no deep shadow where evildoers can hide. God has no need for further examination. The question of repentence is raised in Job 34:33. This is nicely covered in Romans 6. Do not go on sinning so grace may increase. We died to sin, and are made alive in Christ.
Priase God.
Thank God for the gifts we have. Ask God to show how to use those gifts.
In Christ
