Feb 11- Priestly Garments and Consecration of Priests

Moses receives instruction today and for much of the near future.  In reading these instructions, try to consider attributes of God: organized, holy, set apart, considerate, thoughtful, loving and others that may come to mind.

There are some references to items that I have no further data on: Urim and the Thummim.  The text explains that these items are used by Aaron for decision making in the presence of the Lord.

The process of consecration of priests is outlined.  Again, consider attributes of God.  Consider bloodshed being needed for the forgiveness of sin.

The garments of the priests may remind one of Paul's writing to the Ephesians in Chapter 6:13-18a NIV

"Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand you ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all of this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests."

Thoughts:

How are you getting "dressed" to serve the Lord?

Do you keep your eyes open to the Spirit's guidance?

How do you make decisions, where do you look for guidance?

Pray for Pastor to be Spirit-led as he prepares the sermon for Sunday, and pray the Spirit prepares our hearts and minds for the Word.

In Christ,

David P
