A Vision (Sept 12)

"And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication.  They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.
                                 Zechariah 12:10 NIV

Zechariah points ahead to rebuilding of the temple with visions of the coming Messiah and the Kingdom of God.  In today's reading clear direction to Jesus was given in: 11:1, betrayal for 30 pieces of silver; 12:8, His deity; 12:10 &13:6, His hands pierced; and 13:7, a stricken Shepherd.  As you read Zechariah, keep your eyes open for other prophecies about Christ.

We have read many passages in the Old Testament that point to Christ.  Today's passage points to; events of the crucifixion, Pentecost, mourning-resulting from Christ's death, and Christ's relationship with the Father.

How do you in your daily life, point others to Christ?

Pray for opportunities to lovingly show the effect Christ has had in your life to others.

In Christ,

David P
