The Lord Has (Sept 11)

The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone;  the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes.  This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
                                Psalm 118:22-24 NIV

Today's verse highlights redemptive work of the Lord.  It was written at a very joyous time, when the temple was built.

Consider the Lord's work and the difference His work makes in your life.  We can contrast a rejected stone with a capstone and then draw an analogy between our old dead sinful past with the newness we have received through Christ's work on the cross.

To reject is to: refuse to accept, consider, submit to, take for some purpose or use; to refuse to hear, receive, or admit; to cast out; throw back, repulse; not wanted, not fulfilling standard requirements, unsatisfactory.  A capstone is, by definition: a stone that forms the top of a wall or building; a final touch; a crowning achievement; or a culmination.

It is the Lord's work on the Cross that has made us acceptable, and our acceptance is apart from our own doing. As a result, we can rejoice in this day that the Lord has made, for He has put a final touch on us in the sealing by and with the Holy Spirit.

How has the Lord's work impacted you during times you have felt rejected?

How are you being thankful or even rejoicing for today?

Pray that the Spirit work in your life to equip and guide you through life's challenges.

In Christ,

David P
