He Got It! (Sept 2)

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just.  And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
                                     Daniel 4:37 NIV

It took several works of God like; dream interpretation, protection in a fiery furnace and dream fulfillment before Nebuchadnezzar finally understood some attributes of God.  Nebuchadnezzar realized that God is just, and all He does is right.  As a result, Nebuchadnezzar was motivated to praise, exalt and Glorify the King of heaven.

Nebuchadnezzar did recognize Daniel's special gifts earlier, however; Nebuchadnezzar wrongly attributed Daniel's gifts as a result of the god's being with Daniel.  It took some time, observation and experience before Nebuchadnezzar realized, understood and acted in response to God's justness and righteousness, and not the god's being with Daniel.

How often do we, in our daily life, wrongly and perhaps proudly, attribute some blessings to chance, coincidence, just plain luck, or something else; when in fact, that blessing should be attributed to God's work in our life?

Remember we read in Proverbs 11 that when pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.  Early in Proverbs, we read that Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

Nebuchadnezzar realized that God is able to humble anyone who walks in pride.  Nebuchadnezzar did learn and gain wisdom from his observations and experiences of the Lord's work in and around his life.  We too need to keep our eyes open to see and experience the work of God in our life and not wrongly attribute blessings to chance or other source.

To what power do you attribute blessings in your life?

How do you see God at work in your daily life?

Pray to see the Lord's work, to hear and respond to the Lord's call in your life.

In Christ,

David P
