Dwelling (July 6)

This is what the Lord says to me: "I will remain quiet and will look on from my dwelling place, like shimmering heat is the sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."
                              Isaiah 18:4 NIV

Here, Judah is instructed what will happen to Cush (Ethiopia).  Judah is told that Cush will bring gifts to the Lord Almighty (v7).  Judah in Isaiah chapters 15 to 18 is instructed that the surrounding nations: Damascus, Israel, Moab, and here Cush, will face doom.

Judah needs to realize its dwelling place, the place from where it is looking on, that the Lord is present to shepherd, to lead, to comfort, to prepare a table, to anoint and to provide goodness, love and the dwelling place.

Judah was perhaps challenged with the prophecy that the surrounding nations were doomed.  Where could Judah look and what could Judah do in this time of challenge?  Judah was to be quiet in the dwelling place and was not to look to the other nations, but rather to look up to the provider of sunshine, dew and harvest; to look up to the Lord.

Where do you look when you have challenges, struggles and trials?

What do you trust in to equip you for those challenges, struggles and trials?

Pray for the Spirit's guidance through your life challenges.

In Christ,

David P
