Dealing with Burdens (July 9)

Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it.  Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord.
                                            2 Kings 19:14 NIV

Hezekiah was challenged here on many levels.  His kingship and kingdom were being threatened by Sennacherib and his Lord, his God, was being blasphemed.  In addition, "negotiations" from the Assyrians were being voiced in the common language Aramaic, not the diplomatic language Hebrew.  These negotiations or threats, being presented in Aramaic were understood by the people on the wall.  As a result, security of the people of Judah under Hezekiah's rule was further eroded.

In the face of all these and other challenges, Hezekiah goes to the temple to spread out the letter before the Lord.  Additionally Hezekiah prayed to the Lord.

When life becomes insurmountable; take your challenges, problems, conflicts and burdens to the Lord in prayer.  The Lord is listening.

What challenges, problems,.conflicts and burdens are you carrying?

Hezekiah took his cares to the Lord.  What do you think about Hezekiah's bringing his concerns to the Lord?  Do you  take praise, thanksgiving and burdens to the Lord in prayer.

Pray for the Spirit to lay on your heart praise, thanksgiving and concerns to take to the Lord in prayer.

In Christ,

David P
