Righteousness on What (March 16)

After the Lord your God has driven them out before you, do not say to yourself, "The Lord has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness."  No, it is on account of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is going to drive them out before you..

Understand, then, that it is not because of yur righteousness that the Lord yhour God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff necked people....

For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesone who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.  He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing...

When the Lord your God has brought you into the land you are entering to possess, you are to proclaim on Mount Gerizim the blessings, and on Mount Ebal the curses...
     From Deuteronomy 9,10 &11 NIV

Our sins are forgiven and we are assured entry into heaven by Christ's blood shed for us.  Just like Israel's entrance into the promised land not on account of how righteous Israel was; our entry into heaven, the kingdom of God, is not based on our goodness or work, but rather Christ's work.

God still commands obedience from us, but when we fail, we can look to Good Friday and Easter Sunday to realize and be confident in our acceptance.  Not because of what we have done, but rather because mercy and grace by and of what He has done.  Praise God!

What attributes of God do you consider today?

Can others easily tell that you are obedient to God? How?

Pray for the Spirit's guidance to be plainly visible to you, to others in church, to church leadership and to pastors.

In Christ,

David P
