Are you Listening (March 13)

The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, "You have stayed long enough at this mountain.  Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites; go to all the neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the mountains, in the western foothills, in the Negev and along the coast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the Euphrates..."

Then I said to you, "Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them.  The Lord your God is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the desert.  There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place...."
                                      Deuteronomy 1 NIV

God gives commands and wants obedience more than sacrifice.  Faith is given to us, thus we are enabled by the Spirit to follow God's commands.  God does not want us to stay at the same place.  He wants us to grow Spiritually so that we can be more well equipped to tell the story, to carry out the great commission.

God gives us reassurance and is with us as we serve just as He was with Israel during the wanderings.  We should not be afraid as we follow the Lord and lovingly show what He has done for us and, when the opportunity arises, to tell the story.

He carries us like a father carries a son.

Thoughts

How have you moved in relation to God this week?  Have you grown spiritually?

Have you had the opportunity to show and perhaps tell the story of what God has done for you to another?  How did it go?

Pray for the opportunity to tell the story of what God has done for you through Jesus and to invite someone to attend church soon.

In Christ,

David P
