Sequence (August1)

If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me;  if you utter worthy, not worthless, words, you will be my spokesman.
                                 Jeremiah 15:19a NIV

Jeremiah's echoed message here is one of restoration, and avoidance of future punishment by repentance.  His message goes on to promise future responsibility that will accrue as a result of repentance and responsible action.  That promise is a role as a spokesman.

How often do we consider that our roles, responsibilities, and position tomorrow is determined by what we do today.  Generally there is a sequence of events that will lead us from our current status, perhaps as a student to our future status as a homemaker, officer, accountant, missionary or other occupation.  We must not forget our God given role as minister.

The farmer who wishes to harvest a crop must too go through a sequence of events.  There is a decision of which crop, a process of planting, nurturing, and time before the ultimate harvest.

Consider Jeremiah's prophecy about future roles based upon current actions.

What are your long term goals?

How are your actions today aiming you toward your goal?

Pray for the Spirit to guide your steps through the sequences in your life.

In Christ,

David P
