God's Plan (August 7)

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
                                 Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV

How do you feel when you consider that God knows, we do not know, the plans for our future?  When you consider God's attributes of love, eternal, unchanging, omnipotent and his steadfastness, his forgiveness, and his grace; his plans not to harm us, to give us a hope and a future dovetail well with his attributes.

When we call upon the Lord, when we pray, when we come to worship; GOD listens to us.  We need to remember that we are seeking, pursuing, and discerning His will.  We are not to give Him our will in an attempt to gain His "rubber stamp" seal of approval for our will.  In a true sense, sin is being outside of God's will.

We can be thankful that through Christ, we are brought into His grace and his will for our salvation for us.  It is by grace through faith.

We have learned that Jeremiah prophesied during troubling times.  He spoke to Judah about repentance, an inward change of heart from idolatry.  Not just an outward change or reform.

God encourages us that we will find Him when we search for Him with our whole heart.  There is no room for idols in our heart when we are searching for God.

We will read on December 31, God's plan for our salvation through Christ.  His plan is awesome, complete, perfect and absolute.

How are you encouraged knowing that God knows the plan?

Do you have any questions about the plan?

If you do, ask a pastor.

Pray for the Spirit to open your eyes to God's plan.

In Christ,

David P
