"Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish."
Esther 4:16 NIV
Several essences of the book of Esther are captured in the above passage, among them are unity, preparation, action and faith. The events of Esther occurred during the reign of King Xerxes. During that reign, Haman, am elevated noble, developed a plan to destroy the Jews. Esther, a Jew, the king's wife, was persuaded by Mordecai to help in the Jews plight.
Esther took the power of the fast, and for three days the Jews and Esther with her maids, in unity fasted. This fast was in preparation for her action. This fast was a true fast; a fast to seek God's guidance and will, to prepare for the meeting with her husband and king, an action that could lead to her demise. What an example of faith, trust, action, courage to us.
How do you in unity and faith prepare to take action?
How could you apply Esther's example to your life?
Pray for the Spirit to guide you in your daily walk.
In Christ,
David P
