Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord.
Isaiah 37:14 NIV
Hezekiah provides an example for us today. He is greatly burdened by a mighty army at his gate, by the ridicule directed at the Lord by the Assyrian commander, and by the letter he received from the foreign commander. What does he do with his burden? He takes it to the Lord.
We need to consider the examples of faithful biblical leaders and take our challenges promptly to the Lord.
Another example of a "prompt prayer" we have read about is Moses. As he grew in faith in the Lord, when there was unrest in the wilderness among the wandering Israelites, we read of Moses' action when he "fell facedown." There was no hesitation, resistance, or delay in Moses action. Prayer was a habit for Moses.
We, too, need to daily being led by the Spirit, work on our habit of prayer. We need to take it to the Lord, to spread it out before the Lord, in prayer. He is listening...right now!
What kinds of things prompt you to pray?
How often do you pray?
What do you pray about?
Pray for a growing prayer life.
In Christ,
David P
