Good Works (Dec 12)

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
                                       Ephesians 2:10 NIV

God has a plan, it is a perfect plan.  One challenge we have during our short lifetime is that we do not know exactly God's plan is for us on a moment by moment basis.  We do certainly know the end of God's plan as it is outlined in the last chapters of the book of Revelation.  Our free will and sinful nature hinder us as we try to follow the Spirit's direction and leadership toward and on God's plan.  It is a blessing to know that wherever we are on our walk, from that point we can call upon God and God will guide us back toward congruence with His plan.  We are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus.

The works that are for us have two attributes.  They are good and they are prepared.  God has given us the ability to do good works.  These good works that we do are done in a response to what He has done for us.  These good works are apart from our salvation which is by grace through faith.  These works are prepared for us.  Jesus gave us the great commission in Matthew 23; to go and tell the world the gospel message.  Some of our best telling is not with words, but rather through our works, again done in joyful response to what has been done for us.

Pray for the Spirit to lead you to your good works that are prepared for you.
