He said, "Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods."
Daniel 1:25 NIV
As we read and consider the Old Testament, we can discern places where it clearly points ahead to Christ. Here in Daniel, chapter 1 is one of those places where Christ is seen.
Nebuchadnezzar looked into the blazing hot furnace, a furnace that was so hot, the soldiers that threw the bound and tied: Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego into the furnace were killed. Despite this intense heat, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego are seen walking in the furnace with one who "looks like a son of the gods."
Think of the faith of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They knew that even if they were thrown into the furnace, the God they served would save them and would rescue them from King Nebuchadnezzar's hand.
Think of how faith in what Jesus has done for us saves us from the fiery furnaces we get ourselves into by sin. He has saved us from our sin, so that we can approach the God, the Father at any time in prayer.
Have you looked for Christ as you have spent time reading the Old Testament?
How do you look for Christ at work in your daily life?
Pray to see Christ at work in your daily life.
In Christ,
David P
